Insider: Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be more powerful than Apple M2
Qualcomm has not yet released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, but the first information about its successor has already appeared on the network. According to tech blogger Tech_Reve, in the production of the new flagship chip, Qualcomm will abandon ARM cores in favor of a “home” solution that has significantly more computing power.

According to the source, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be built on the cores of Nuvia, a startup that develops its own processors. Qualcomm acquired the company in 2021 to be less dependent on ARM. The chip is credited with two high-performance Nuvia Phoenix I cores and six energy-efficient Nuvia Phoenix M cores. It is expected that the new product will be manufactured using the TSMC N3E process technology.
According to the insider’s forecast, the new processor will be able to score approximately 2070 and 9100 points in the Geekbench 5 single and multi-threaded test, respectively (2% more than the Apple M2). In turn, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, according to reports, “knocks out” in the benchmark is noticeably less than 1800 / 6500 points.
Wccftech also reports that Qualcomm is working on a new laptop chip called Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4. It is expected to have eight high-performance and four power-efficient cores, and will also support NVMe drives and external graphics cards. The release dates of new products have not yet been confirmed.
