Masterpiece is an analogue of Midjourney from Yandex on Android and iOS

“Yandex” presented a beta version of the service for creating images according to the text description “Masterpiece”. The company showed the result of the work of the neural network, told how it works and how it will surprise after leaving the “beta” status.

“Masterpiece” works like other image generators: you need to enter a detailed description of the future creation, press the button and wait for the result. The more detailed the request, the better the picture will turn out. For example, not “cat”, but “a white cat lying on a bed in a dark room.” Also, the neural network can take into account artistic styles and imitate painters. To use this feature, you need to add style suggestions to the request.

For example, the query “white cat lying on a bed in a dark room in anime style” will return an image in the style of Japanese animation, and if you add to the query “in the style of Alexei Savrasov”, the result will look like the work of this artist. The first version of Masterpiece was trained on 240 million examples of pictures with text descriptions. Training continues on a dataset of 500 million examples – and the quality will be gradually improved in the next updates.

“We are at the very beginning of the journey. At the heart of “Masterpiece” is a prototype of a neural network, which has a lot to learn. By the time of the final release, it will be able to generate banners, illustrations, create images for online storefronts and more. The beta test of the application for users is a new experience and a little good mood, for us it is an opportunity to understand a little better in which direction to develop the neural network further,” said Alexey Gusakov, Head of Machine Intelligence and Research at Yandex.
